(Schmidt was not the first to discover cancer parasites. As early as 1890 Scottish pathologist William Russell reported on widely variegated microbes present in all cancer tissue, which microbes were referred to as "Russell bodies".) Continue Reading >>

| How to help prevent computer viruses | | 2008-06-03 21:42:00 | | Nothing can guarantee the security of your computer 100 percent. You can continue to improve your computer's security and decrease the possibility of infection by using a firewall, keeping your system up-to-date, maintaining a current antivirus software subscription, and following a few best practices.Tip: Because no security method is guaranteed, it's important to back up critical files on a regular basis before you encounter a virus or other problems.Steps to help avoid viruses:1.Use an Internet firewall (Note: Windows XP with SP2 has a firewall already built-in and turned on by default).2.Visit Microsoft Update and turn on automatic updating.Note: If you've installed Office 2003 or Office XP, Automatic Updates will also update your Office programs. If you have an earlier version of Office, use Office Update.3.Subscribe to industry standard antivirus software, such as Windows Live OneCare and keep it current.4.Never open an e-mail attachment from someone you don't know.5.Avoid openin... | | By: What's Up | | |
| | Gremlins and viruses and all things horrible! | | 2008-05-21 07:55:46 | | I've had a difficult week dealing with slowdown on my computer. Apparently some evil virus hit me. It was bad enough worrying about MRSA in the local hospital. Now it's online MRSA, a very much more distracting, disturbing and downright distrastrous disease for computers. I can't imagine the brains that are minded to sit around all day devising ways to upset others. The internet is a great tool. That some should be keen to cause havoc, well!!Of course warped minded people exist. It would be only those wearing rose-tinted specs that thought otherwise. The Burmese generals have warped minds. Robert Mugabe's mind is bent to various degrees. It goes on. Hopefully these rulers will be brought to book some day. I have little hope of the hackers and virus spreaders being put in a dock anywhere soon.So my week has been worrying about computers. I thought of getting a new one. My wife told me that all new ones have Windows Vista on them. "We don't have Windows Vista at work," she declared. "Oh!... | | By: A View from Middle England by Arden Forester | | |

| | | | | Avoiding viruses | | 2007-10-10 10:34:00 | | Avoiding viruses, bacteria and the like is nearly impossible in the modern world. Potential infections are everywhere, and new ones spring up all the time, or at least find their way beyond previously insurmountable geographic and biological barriers. You can almost hear some of those exotic viruses singing, "It's a small, small world."You have probably noticed how often I talk about the importance of building up your immune system. This is because your general health is based on your ability to fend off disease. I'm not just speaking about the common cold, flu viruses and allergies. As our understanding of immunity increases, so does the list of serious immune-related diseases, among them psoriasis, asthma, multiple sclerosis, cancer, Epstein-Barr virus and chronic fatigue syndrome. Even arteriosclerosis and chronic infections like nephritis and colitis may belong on this list. With some conditions, such as allergies and asthma, the problem is not that your immune system is suppress... | | By: Health201concious | | |
