    2008-07-05 00:59:56
Art Review: By ROBERTA SMITH The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s “J. M. W. Turner” is a beast of a show. With nearly 150 works in oil and watercolor spanning more than half a century, it will either win you over or wear you out. Or it will alternate, gallery by gallery, or wall by wall, as [...]

    2008-06-12 09:19:00
Would you like to have a car that can assume different shapes? You may think technology has not gone so far, but complicated things can be made out of simple ideas. Just check out the images on this article. They may seem to refer to different vehicles, but they are only different views BMW new concept car-BMW GINA concept, a vehicle that can do exactly this, or else, change its shape in many ways. The Bavarian automaker has named it GINA Light Visionary Model Concept Car. And the car can assume different shapes due to the material its body is built from: cloth. The fabric is placed over a meshwork of metal wires that can move, controlled by eletro-hydraulic devices. As you can imagine, this is the way the car finds to change its shape as many times as the person behind the wheel decides to do so. GINA, which stands for Geometry and Functions In Adaptions, does not change only the exterior, but also the interior. We believe describing the process may not be as interesting as seeing the

BMW GINA Light Visionary Model revealed
    2008-06-11 06:51:00
The BMW GINA Light Visionary Model that was seen via video being installed in the BMW Museum in Munich last week has finally been revealed, and the futuristic design study shows how BMW designers are thinking outside of the box when it comes to the materials that make up a car and also how the car relates to the driver. GINA stands for "Geometry and Functions in 'N' Adaptations", which basically means that designers from both BMW and BMW Group DesignworksUSA were allowed to throw out the rulebook. This is most evident in the GINA Light Visionary Model's outer skin, which is made entirely out of textile fabric that's pulled taut around a frame of metal and carbon fiber wires. The skeleton of the car is controlled by electro-hydraulic devices and can actually move and change shape beneath the fabric skin. For instance, the headlights of the concept can be exposed or hidden by the car's skin just like blinking eyes, and the hood opens from the center as the fabric parts to expose the engi

Elements Akademia launch of a visionary startup
    2007-10-07 21:27:13
These days we hear only one word around us "shortages". Companies are crying out that there is a shortage of skilled employees. Students are crying out there is a shortage of Jobs and this means that both sides are facing troubles lakhs of students are unemployed while companies are struggling to grow because of these shortages. This factor is most crucial in Tier 2 and 3 cities where lack of exposure makes life of a graduate tougher compared to a metro. To address this we need companies who are willing to train these people in skills that will help them fit in workspace and this is where Elements Akademia has jumped in.Officially launched today in Lucknow Elements Akademia plans to provide BPO skills training to graduates to make them more profitable for an organization. It plans to open its centers in 14 more tier 2 cities after Lucknow. Now this field is not without competition there are organized players like NIIT and street side players who offer skills like English speaking courses, soft skills training etc but what Elements Akademia seems to be keen on is providing integrated training to these graduates and most of all it is backed by a corporate partner in Genpact which is arguably India's largest BPO thus providing its students a chance for a placement. What creates trust for the startup is that it is backed by a team of all IIM alumni including its CEO who is IIM Lucknow alumni and its Honorary Dean who was formerly Dean of IIT Kanpur's Business School. Elements Akademia's educational partners includes K.J Somaiya .Elements Akademia has setup an interesting vision of “10 x 10… 10,000+ Indians employed by 2010".Elements Akademia is a different idea for a startup then the herd of similar ideas that i have seen and they have started it well with a good PR launch and a good team behind it however the key lies in the execution and though the brand IIM is behind them it will take some doing to deal with more established competition. Its website is http://www.elementsakademia.com/Dislaimer: I have done a honorary project for this startup and my views might be affected by my experience

    Sarah the Visionary
    2007-06-09 01:12:00
This is posted by Adum.So the other day, Sarah and I were talking technology, and Sarah casually said how surprised she was that no one has invented a way to transmit electricity wirelessly. I told her that there was actually a really old invention that did just that: it's called lightning. Turns out Sarah was the genius.According to technewsworld.com "Researchers at MIT have figured out how to transfer power wirelessly, a technology they've dubbed "WiTricity." Potential applications for WiTricity include powering cell phones, laptops, household robots and other battery-run devices. However, before WiTricity enters the mainstream, there is still work to be done, as the group's tested device operated at only 40 percent efficiency."Mostly this post is about how Sarah is a visionary, while I am so twentieth century. But if any of you geeks out there are actually interested in wireless electricity, read all about it:http://www.technewsworld.com/story/57757.htmlGood job, babe.
