I liked too many ones, and they were very similar. That happens a lot, usually all the things we like are very similar. But then a picture of Sasha Pivovarova dressed as a captain came to my mind. I loved that photo when I saw it in the february issue of Vogue Italia.I didn't like so much the rest of the pics the first time I looked at them in the magazine. But I decided to choose that editorial as the best one of the year. Because it shows the change in the fashion world. Millions of blogs, facebooks, myspaces, webs, forums, watching videos on youtube, the possibility of seeing a fashion show online the same day it has taken place. Who said fashion was just for some privileged people?. In some months the "it" dress appears in thousands of magazines, but celebrities all over the world have already worn it. The new wave of photographers, models (even with a new characteristic "alien beauty", for those models with a singular beauty, uncommonly appreciated), stylists, well, those called artists. And not all of them are considered artists. That's the big deal, in my opinion. Who can objectly state that the Louis Vuitton handbags by Marc Jacobs are art?, or Terry Richardson's photography?, and what about the last Art Issue of W? was that art?Anybody with a camera, a brush, or a musical instrument can be an artist nowadays, can't they? If we like their art is another thing.And that's why I liked this editorial. A real artist (Steven Meisel) picturing half-artists in their dairy life. The models in this editorial could be any person having fun in front of a webcam. And we must admit that we can find a lot of photos of this kind on the net. So Meisel hasn't done anything new in that aspect. But he has recognized this change in the point of view, and he has published it in Vogue Italia.
