Ad Wars: New Minnesota, Oregon Senate Ads
    2008-06-28 23:03:06
Check out our entire video library at Political Realm TV.Senate Watch: MinnesotaThe Coleman camp has released another ad meant to soften his image and limit his ties to the Republican Party. In "Hard Times," Coleman talks about the challenges facing middle class voters--rising food, fuel, and education costs. "If you can bring people together, you can actually make a difference--you can get things done," Coleman says in closing.Senate Watch: Oregon"No one loves the land more than the farmers, loggers, and ranchers who care for it," Republican Gordon Smith notes in his latest ad, "Home." The ad has a folksy feel and is full of images of nature, but I'm not really sure what the message is here.

Ad Wars: Christian Group Hits Obama On Abortion
    2008-06-27 12:23:00
Check out our entire video library at Political Realm TV.Presidential Watch: John McCainMcCain's latest ad, "Purpose," focuses on energy security and independence, suggesting it is the next great challenger America must overcome. The ad also tries out a new theme for McCain--"Putting Country First." The campaign has touched on that message in recent days, implying that Barack Obama is just a standard politician, while McCain has been willing to risk his life and career for what he sees as the good of the country. The ad will air on national cable and in Iowa, Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.Presidential Watch: Barack ObamaThe Family Research Council, a conservative Christian group, is running a new ad in select markets (Atlanta, Cincinnati, and Dallas) that goes after Barack Obama on the issue of abortion. Ad Wars: Dr. No And The Kansas Senate Race
    2008-06-26 13:15:31
Check out our entire video library at Political Realm TV.Presidential Watch: John McCainThe McCain camp is hitting Barack Obama on energy in its latest web video, portraying Obama as Jame Bond villain Dr. No. The video attacks Obama for opposing offshore drilling, the gas tax holiday, and nuclear energy expansion. It's kind of a dated reference--Dr. No was the first Bond film released in 1962--though it's a web-only video, so the audience isn't that big anyway.Senate Watch: KansasRepublican Senator Pat Roberts has released his third campaign ad, "Fly," which focuses on his support for the airline industry in the state. Earlier this year, the Pentagon accepted a contract offer from Airbus over Boeing, which has a factory in Wichita. A recent review of the decision, however, found significant errors in the selection process and moved to reopen the bidding, which will give Boeing another chance to win the contract.

Check out our entire video library at Political Realm TV.Presidential Watch: John McCainMcCain's latest web video, "Words," hits Barack Obama for not following through on a commitment to publicly finance his general election campaign.Gubernatorial Watch: MissouriTreasurer Sarah Steelman continues her negative attacks in two new ads. Steelman is positive for half of "Missouri First," talking about her work to create jobs and limit spending. The ad then turns negative, attacking Republican rival Kenny Hulshof's spending record. I'm not sure how effective the ad really is--it's as if the campaign can't decide the message they want to send, so they crammed as many blanket phrases in as possible, creating a really disjointed commercial.Steelman continues to attack Hulshof's spending in "Ed and Orville." The ad hits Hulshof for voting for various earmarks while in Congress. This ad is far more effective. It has a clear message and an interesting delivery.Senate Watch: ColoradoDemocratic

Ad Wars: Obama's First General Election Ad
    2008-06-21 14:15:37
Check out our entire video library at Political Realm TV.Presidential Watch: Barack ObamaThe Obama team has launched their general election ad campaign, airing "Country I Love" in 18 states across the country. The nature of that buy illuminates the campaign's strategy and their massive fundraising advantage over John McCain. The ad will air in a number of traditional battlegrounds (Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin), some emerging battlegrounds (Colorado, Nevada, Virginia), a few Southern states Obama hopes to put in play with increased black turnout and the help of Libertarian candidate Bob Barr (Georgia and North Carolina), but the ad will also run in deep red country. Indiana hasn't voted for a Democrat since 1964. Same with Alaska and North Dakota. President Bush won Montana by 20 points in both of his runs. Voters in all four of those states, however, will find Obama on their televisions. The breadth of the buy w

The ad, "Safe," features the candidate talking about his service and his desire to protect the country in the future. "I hate war," McCain says, "and I know how terrible its costs are. I'm running for president to keep the country I love safe." The campaign is clearly ready and willing to engage on foreign policy, feeling McCain's experience and concerns about Barack Obama's relative inexperience will boost their prospects. The campaign, however, may have a tough time selling the war as a necessary cost--the public made up its mind some time ago and has shown no willingness to reverse course. The ad will air in 10 states that are sure to be battlegrounds come November (C

The women portray Smith as a bipartisan deal maker, suggesting he's stood up to President Bush and national Republicans on the Iraq War. The independent appeal and break with Bush is a message his campaign has worked hard to instill, avoiding the Republican brand at all costs.

The ad, "Working Together," is part of a broader message he's trying to send to voters. "It's not good enough just to criticize--not good enough to tear something down," Coleman notes. "The key to making a difference is to focus on a shared vision... bridging the partisan divide." Coleman will face Democratic challenger Al Franken in November.Senate Watch: New MexicoDemocratic Congressman Tom Udall hits President Bush's economic leadership in his new ad, "Crush." Top 10 reasons The Star Wars Characters Would Kick Butt In The Star Trek Universe
    2008-06-14 08:20:02
    10. In the Star Wars universe, weapons rarely, if ever, are set on “stun”.9. The Enterprise needs a huge engine room with an anti-matter unit and a crew of twenty just to go into warp—the Millennium Falcon does the same thing with R2-D2 and a Wookiee.8. After resisting the Imperial torture droid and Darth Vader, Princess Leia still looked fresh and desirable. After pithy Cardassian starvation torture, Picard looked like hell.7. Jabba the Hutt would eat Harry Mudd for trying to cut in on his action.6. Luke Skywalker is not obsessed with sleeping with every alien he encounters.5. One word: “light sabers”.4. The Federation would have to attempt to liberate any ship named Slave I.3. Darth Vader could choke the entire Borg empire with one glance.2. Picard pilots the Enterprise through an asteroid belt at one-quarter impulse power. Han Solo floors it.1. The Death Star doesn't care if a world is class “M” or not.

    Quake Wars Review!
    2008-06-05 23:41:00
PS3 VersionJust 2 days ago, I got my hands on Quake Wars...and I have to say, I am a huge fan of the series, or I should say I was until I switched to consoles to get my daily dose of games...Since then, it has been one disappointment after another. I do recognize that Id doesn't really work on console versions themselves, but rather let other studios handle the task, but I'd expect them to be more thorough on their check ups, so the games can be as great as their PC counterparts. Because, this game is nowhere near as good as anyone would expect a game baring the Quake name should be. Also, this game originally came out in '07 for PC. So, by now there should be more improvements on it, instead of porting an uglier version, for any console owner to even consider buying this title. PC VersionGraphics: 6The game does have good draw distance, which lets snipers and those using vehicles take shot from really far away. But, that is just about the only good thing I can come up with. In a preview of a message we will probably see down the line, the RNC using the words of former Democratic rivals against Barack Obama in one video, "Democrats vs. Obama." The most damning comments come from Hillary Clinton, who in March touted her own experience and that of John McCain, while questioning Obama's readiness. The RNC also hits Obama's experience, suggesting he has limited job experience and few accomplishments. "Does Barack Obama's thin resume prepare him to hold the most powerful office in the world?" It's another message you can expect to hear more of as the general election moves forward.Senate Watch: ColoradoThe NRSC has released a new web video that essentially sums up its case in Colorado in a four word phrase: "Boulder libe

    Rome: The Punic Wars
    2008-05-26 13:14:00
CarthageThe greatest naval power of the Mediterranean in the third century BC was the North African city of Carthage near modern day Tunis. The Carthaginians were orginally Phoenicians and Carthage was a colony founded by the Phoenician capital city of Tyre in the ninth century BC; the word "Carthage" means, in Phoenician, "the New City." The Phoenicians, however, were conquered by the Assyrians in the sixth century BC, and the conquered by the Persians; an independent Phoenician state would never again appear in the Middle East. Carthage, however, remained; it was no longer a colony, but a fully functioning independent state. While the Romans were steadily increasing their control over the Italian peninsula, the Carthaginians were extending their empire over most of North Africa. By the time that Rome controlled all of the Italian peninsula, Carthage already controlled the North African coast from western Libya to the Strait of Gibraltar, and ruled over most of southern Spain, and the

"What's Right" is a biographical spot that focuses on his family background and career accomplishments as a congressmen and as the state's attorney general.Udall, noting his father's service in World War II, talks about his support for the new GI Bill in a second new ad, "Same Opportunity."With the Republican primary less than two weeks away, Heather Wilson is hitting rival Steve Pearce in her latest ad, "Wrong For New Mexico." Wilson attacks Pearce for cutting social security benefits and hospital funding. Wilson, the more moderate candidate, also makes an electability claim in closing--"with that record, he can't win in November." Recent polling shows the primary race is a tossup and both sides (and outside groups) have shown a willingness to go negative that should only in

Ad Wars: Outside Groups Take Aim In Colorado
    2008-05-21 12:10:36
Check out our entire video library at Political Realm TV.Presidential Watch: John McCainThe left-leaning MoveOn.org has launched a new ad urging John McCain to fire aide Charlie Black. The ad attacks Black for lobbying for "the world's worst tyrants." Several other McCain campaign staffers have recently resigned due to their past lobbying work, which could undermine McCain's message of reform. Senate Watch: ColoradoDemocrat Mark Udall and Republican Bob Schaffer both launched their ad campaigns this week and now two outside groups are getting in on the act as well. Coloradans for Economic Growth, a group that seems to have been formed specifically to support Bob Schaffer, is up with a new ad, "Sources," which touts Schaffer's support for alternative energy. The League of Conservation Voters, a left-leaning environmental group, is airing its own ad, "Fingerprint," which attacks Schaffer for his associations with the oil and gas industry. 2008-05-20 10:05:22
Check out our entire video library at Political Realm TV.Senate Watch: LouisianaThe NRSC is stretching a little bit in its latest attack, this time against Louisiana Democrat Mary Landrieu. Taking a page out of the 2004 presidential playbook, the web ad portrays Landrieu as a flip-flopper, citing several recent bills that Landrieu voted both for and against. Of course, it's a ridiculous charge given the nature of the Senate, but the NRSC is apparently hoping voters are stupid. The most egregious part of the video, however, is the effort to suggest Landrieu lacks leadership Louisiana voters deserve because she hasn't made an endorsement in the Democratic presidential primary. Seriously? No doubt the NRSC is disappointed that Landrieu hasn't endorsed Obama, so that they could attempt to tie her to his "bitter" comments (that ploy hasn't been so successful in recent House contests, just ask the NRCC). The change is perhaps the greatest signal that Clinton realizes her rival is the likely nominee and she does not want to further damage his chances in the general election.John McCainThe McCain camp's latest general election ad, to air in Iowa, gets in a shot about the infighting within the Democratic Party. Check out our entire video library at Political Realm TV.John McCainThe McCain campaign has released another general election ad, this one to air in Oregon, a state they very much hope to put in play in November. In the ad, "A Better Way," McCain seeks to own the middle ground on the environment, decrying the extremists on both sides. The ad affords McCain a break with the policies of President Bush and the Republican Party, which will be a necessary tactic to expand his electoral options (Oregon has gone narrowly to Democrats the last two cycles). But beyond acknowledging the existence of global warming, McCain's break with his party seems relatively superficial or at least unsubstantiated. For some, the symbolism of reaching across the aisle (artificial or otherwise) may be enough, but until McCain offers more specifics, his reach may be limited.Barack ObamaMoveOn.org will begin airing a new ad supporting Obama on national cable and it local markets in the battleground states of

Ad Wars: Obama, Clinton Continue To Spar
    2008-05-06 10:38:01
Check out our entire video library at Political Realm TV.Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton continue to spar before the crucial contests in Indiana and North Carolina today. The two Democrats have been duking it out on the air over a proposed gas tax holiday, which Clinton (and McCain) supports and Obama opposes. Each has accused the other of going negative, though neither campaign has been especially hard-hitting on the issue. Hillary ClintonClinton asks "What's happened to Barack Obama?" in her latest ad, playing the victim in the back-and-forth over the gas tax holiday. For the record, it was Clinton who struck first on the gas tax issue, at least in television advertising. Cola Wars Hit Youtube Pepsi Spoofs Thums Up

After Coke recently made a mockery of Pepsi's 'Youngistan' campaign with 'Sprite spoof ', Pepsi is now hitting back with a spoof of the 'Thums Up' campaign that featured actor Akshay Kumar but the interesting point is releasing of the ad for this spoof on Youtube before releasing it to mass media. Pepsi is in the midst of a huge ad campaign following up its couple of Youngistan ad camapigns with Ranbir and Deepika with IPL Dhoni's Rajnikant spoof ad and so was unable to release this campaign on TV and JWT the agency handling pepsi's account decided to release this ad on Youtube.Soumitra Karnik, creative head on the Pepsi account at JWT says “It is more than a spoof as Youngistan is an attitude and here to make a statement. It also represents the old-versus-new tussle, and that prompted us to go in for a new format, given the constraints”Though Youtube was used because of constraints still it marks a trend in first time use of online social media for pure brand advertising in India

The focus of the ad is McCain's comments last year that he would be willing to keep American troops in Iraq 100 years or more. McCain has argued that he was not referring to active combat missions 100 years from now, more like a residual peacekeeping force similar to the forces we have in South Korea. The connection is rather weak, but expect more ads like this down the road. The ad has drawn a quick rebuke from the national Republican Party as well as Republican nominee John McCain. The NC GOP, however, is an independent body, so the decision to run the ad is theirs.Perdue recently pledged to run a positive-only advertising campaign. 2008-04-22 13:03:14
Check out our video library at Political Realm TV.Hillary ClintonThe Clinton campaign has released two new ads going after Barack Obama in the days leading up to the Pennsylvania primary. "Answer" is a response to an Obama ad that began airing this past weekend. The ad suggests Clinton's plan is affordable, while Obama's leaves people without coverage. The ad also ties into ABC's recent debate, saying, "He [Barack Obama] couldn't answer tough questions," and "There are more and more questions about Barack Obama. Instead of attacking, maybe he should answer them." That language is the toughest we've seen yet in a Clinton ad--even more so than the 3 AM attack ads, which relied largely on symbolism. With just a few days left, both campaigns have opted to go negative in Pennsylvania. It will be interesting to watch what effect it has, if any."Talk" attempts to tie Obama to lobbyists, noting former lobbyists who have worked for his campaign.John McCainThe Democratic Party has produced

Ad Wars: Clinton Hits Obama On Energy
    2008-04-17 10:08:21
Check out our video library at Political Realm TV.Hillary ClintonJust a day after attacking Obama's "bitter" remarks in a Pennsylvania ad, the Clinton campaign is on the offensive again, this time attacking Obama on energy. "Pocket" echoes a radio ad that has been running in the state for a while. The ad challenges an earlier Obama ad in which he claimed not to take money from the oil companies. The ad points out that while he doesn't accept money from the oil companies, that would be against the law, he has accepted thousands from oil employees (something Clinton has done as well). It also attacks Obama for voting in favor of the Bush Administration's energy bill.John McCainFriends of the Earth Action, an environmental group, is running a new ad, "Trillions More," which attacks John McCain. The ad accuses McCain of sending pork barrel money to corporate polluters.Barack ObamaThe Obama campaign has produced a new web ad, "Guide," which looks at the influence of lobbyists in Washin

Barack ObamaObama pushes back against a Clinton attack in his latest ad, "Dime." The ad accuses Hillary Clinton of using the "same old politics" and of running "misleading, negative ads." PSD si Star Wars
    2008-04-16 10:37:58
