| Jacksonville Jaguars Draft Pick Signed: RB Chauncey Washington | | 2008-06-26 15:52:52 | |
[Note by River City Rage, 06/27/08 12:28 AM EDT ] Salary Information is found! Washington got roughly $60,000 to sign along with minimum base salaries of $295,000 this season, $360,000 in 2009, $440,000 in 2010 and $550,000 in 2011.
The Florida Times-Union is reporting that the Jacksonville Jaguars have signed 7th round draft pick Chauncey Washington to a contract. Chauncey is the first of the Jaguars five draft picks to sign a contract. The Jaguars recently released five players to ensure room for the draft picks under the 80-man roster limit.
The Jaguars have a strict policy to not release terms and conditions, including signing bonus and duration were not released, though for a 7th round player it's not much of a concern.
Washington is one of four running backs currently on the Jaguars roster, including Fred Taylor, Maurice Jones-Drew, and UFA Lavarus Giles. It took place just a few hours before he died. Just listen to him speak. One would never know something might have been wrong with him at the time. He is filled with the same enthusiasm and excitement today as he would be on Election Day. Here's the audio from the 4-minute segment. He speaks of the differences beween Barack Obama and John McCain, a race he will sadly never get to dissect as he wanted. He also speaks of the guests who were scheduled to appear with him on Meet the Press this weekend. | | By: The Hudson Line Blog

Book Description
Scott McClellan was one of a few Bush loyalists from Texas who became part of his inner circle of trusted advisers, and remained so during one of the most challenging and contentious periods of recent history. Drawn to Bush by his commitment to compassionate conservatism and strong bipartisan leadership, McClellan served the president for more than seven years, and witnessed day-to-day exactly how the presidency veered off course.
In this refreshingly clear-eyed book, written with no agenda other than to record his experiences and insights for the benefit of history, McClellan provides unique perspective on what happened and why it happened the way it did, including the Iraq war, Hurr | | By: Store Books Cheap

| | Washington DC Remodeling Start In Kitchen Or Bath | | 2008-05-04 12:38:36 | | Whilst a bedroom is first and foremost a place to sleep each night, it has the potential for being much more and with just a little thought and imagination, remodeling a master bedroom can change it beyond recognition. In recent times, homeowners have seen the benefits of turning this room into more than just a room to sleep; for example, a reading room or just a place to relax. In this part of the world we are a little behind Europe, they have been using the bedroom for much more for a long time; the French and Italians have always seen it as sensual place for example. To make this work, certain colors like subtle shades of pink, deep reds and pastel peaches are needed. Of course to improve upon this and enhance the atmosphere further you will need the subtle use of mirrors and candles along with some beautiful tropical plants; I am sure you can see the appeal to this already. Candles are also useful but they need mirrors to enhance the reflections or you can add plants which will als | | By: Home Remodeling and Repair Tips | | |

| | | 2008 NFL Draft: Jacksonville Jaguars Select Running Back Chauncey Washington | | 2008-04-27 16:26:24 | |
With the Jaguars final pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected USC Running Back Chauncey Washington. Jack Del Rio must feel bad for all the UCLA players he's selected early in previous drafts, so he'll make up for it by taking some depth players late.
Chauncey was part of a fleet of running backs used by USC in the post-Bush era. In 31 games he started 15 of them, with over 1700 yards, 19 touchdowns, and a 4.8 yards per carry average. He's a classic "north-south" runner that can get first downs and critical yardage.
Jacksonville needs to start thinking about what happens at Running Back after Fred Taylor. Because of the Derrick Harvey trade, they did not have the third round picks to go after someone like Kevin Smith. Chauncey, as far as I know, is not the future starting running back, rather he'll be a role guy to build and develop. While I'm not going to completely hate on the guy, he's described as someone wh | | By: Big Cat Country - An Unoffical Jacksonville Jaguar

As much as we would like to have faith in our government, we know piles and piles of that money are being spent stupidly. Enter Reese, the Giants' spend-thrift of a general manager. When Reese is ready to write a book, I've got the title already selected. Oh, and Jerry, I'm available to ghost-write since I know you probably won't want to pay for some hotshot like Peter King or John Clayton to help you out. Back to that book title. Jerry's book should be called "How to Win Championships AND Stay Under Budget." In his second season as Giants' GM, Reese has shown a magic touch in manipulating the Giants salary cap and roster that would make Harry Houdini blush.
| | Why Washington auto insurance quotes are needed? | | 2008-02-12 03:01:15 | | Why Washington auto insurance quotes are needed?By: Francisco SeguraWashington is no exception to other U.S states in that all drivers are expected to have a certain minimum level of insurance. This of course is a prudent way to drive, as one cannot factor in the myriad random accidents that could possibly take place. The Washington Department of Licensing has outlined this mandatory coverage. Actually, this makes the drivers a more responsible set, as they are aware that they are the ones who will be held responsible in the event of an accident caused by them. Auto insurance is necessary and Washington auto insurance quotes are a good way to set about it.All drivers in Washington carry an insurance identification card and show it if requested to by a traffic enforcement officer. The non-production of this card can result in a fine that can go as high as $450.It is a misdemeanor to falsify information for insurance purposes. | | Washington Judge Apologizes to Woman with Cancer After Telling Her to Remove Her Hat | | 2008-01-15 15:10:51
What was the reason for this nonsensical rule of Judge Holly Hollenbeck's anway, I have to ask myself? Well it can't be due to his irrational fear that a gun would be hidden under Bev Williams' hat, since without question all people entering a federal building would have had to undergo a scanning process to eliminate threats of bodily harm to their persons. The only other plausible excuse that I can think of for this would be the evident self-love of this judge, who to his credit came to his senses. Oh wait...didn't he mention something to the effect of this case "hurting him politically as well in the next election?" It makes me sad as well as angry to think of standing before an insensitive, phony judge, who has been given the colossal responsibility of making life-changing decisions every day. Before undertaking such a task they should attend and pass sensitivity courses, since their business is humans and how to best assist them with integration in our society. | | California Governor Tries Washington Monument Ploy | | 2008-01-15 00:00:00 | | With California running out of borrowing options to cover huge budget deficits stretching back nearly a decade, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger got everyone's attention with proposed budget cuts last week: Schwarzenegger's proposed budget-cutting mechanisms include:A 10 percent decrease in education funding, including $4.4 billion in cuts from K-12 education and $1.13 billion from higher education. The closing of 48 of the state's 280 parks.A reduction of $1.13 billion dollars from the California Department of Health Care Services, including the elimination of dental care for low income residents on the state's Medi-Cal program. The firing of 7,000 state employees. An $11.7 million cut from the Office of Emergency Services-Disaster Assistance Program, less than three months after the state suffered from the most extensive and damaging wildfires in its entire history.A $175 million cut from the child services division of the Department of Social Services, which provides resources for abused, neglected, and deaf children.A 10 percent reduction in retirement benefits for military veterans, along with a $20.5 million cut in the California Department of Veteran Affairs - Veteran Homes Program, which provides nursing services and residential care for veterans. In addition, the budget includes a provision to borrow $3.3 billion dollars approved under California Proposition 57, placing the state's poor credit rating under further strain and providing cover for future spending cuts.Schwarzenegger is also proposing the early release of 37,000 prisoners from the state's overcrowded penitentiary system. This is a classic example of the "Washington Monument" ploy used by government agencies to justify revenue increases or prevent budget cuts. A threatened agency, instead of trying to become more efficient, warns that it will have to cut or shut down the most popular service under its control. "It's time to take a little break."Angela: "What will you do when your little 'ideas' come to you and you simply need to let them out?"Me: "I will share them with you, my lucky, lovely buttercup."I saw the panic in Angela's eyes. She's lived with me when I wasn't writing a regular column. She has endured shouted 600-word rants about the Bull Moose Party, the Constitution, yogurt, semi-automatic weapons, love, PETA members and the love of PETA members for yogurt (but not semi-automatic weapons)."But what about your fans, what about the boys at the orphanage who say you inspire them so?" she asked."It's really more a correctional facility than an orphanage," I answered. | | Economist Gerald Prante Discusses AMT on C-SPAN's Washington Journal | | 2007-12-04 00:00:00 | | Tax Foundation economist Gerald Prante, author of several reports and commentaries on the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) debate, discussed the issue on C-SPAN's Washington Journal this morning. Prante is the author of the Tax Foundation's revenue-neutral proposal to greatly diminish the parallel tax system known as the AMT. He has calculated how many taxpayers had to file an AMT return for tax year 2005, in each state, county, metropolitan area and congressional district. and he has shown that no taxpayer's AMT payment is as large as his tax cut was under the Bush tax cuts.Click here for more on the AMT.Click here to watch the C-SPAN video. | | | Washington Governor Seeks Property Tax Limit Reinstatement | | 2007-11-27 00:00:00 | | Gov. Christine Gregoire (D) has called a special legislative session to reinstate the 1 percent property tax cap invalidated by the state supreme court, as we reported here. The governor's previous plan of merely asking the local governments not to tax more didn't work:Gregoire has urged local governments to continue heeding the 1 percent cap. The governor said Monday that she decided to call the Legislature into session because a handful of local governments said they planned to take advantage of the Supreme Court decision and raise taxes above the cap."I'd hoped that local governments would feel as I did. They couldn't give me the guarantee, and that was the tipping point," she said.Another proposal would allow middle-income homeowners to defer up to one-quarter of their property taxes, with interest.Democratic leaders in the House and Senate support the proposal. | | Washington Supreme Court Invalidates Property Tax Limit | | 2007-11-09 00:00:00 | | Yesterday, the Washington Supreme Court ruled that Initiative 747, which limits property tax increases to 1 percent per year, is unconstitutional. The court split 5-4 in the case, Washington Citizens Action v. State, with the majority holding that I-747 was ambiguous as to its effects on property taxes. The majority held that because I-747 was an amendment to a law that had already been declared unconstitutional, it has no effect. The dissenters argued that I-747 was not misleading, and voters understood that the effect of it would be to limit property tax increases, and they approved this. Before 1997, property taxes increases in Washington State were limited to the lesser of inflation or 6 percent, unless voters approved a higher number. In 1997, Referendum 47 allowed local taxing districts to increase property taxes faster than inflation, but still subject to the 6 percent limit. This middle number, the "limit factor," was subject to supermajority requirements and | | By: Tax Policy Blog

It's that aging structure that connects the downtown area to the south side of town. Not the prettiest looking thing, but it's one of the few ways tractor-trailers can get to that side of town. The good news is that the New York State Department of Transportation is going to replace the bridge. The bad news is that after reading the proposed plan and getting some additional information about the proposed design of the bridge, the end result is that it's not pretty. The state apparently went with the cheapest design and not with what aesthetically would fit the area.Think about where the columns are on the bridge now and imagine that as a solid wall from the top of the bridge to the ground. This wall would be about 3 stories high in spots and have openings for Harrison Street, the Chadakoin River, the rail road, and a set-back for the River Walk that's being | | By: In Java, Literally...
