| Apple getting back into the gaming segment with Wiimote style controller? | | 2008-05-09 10:44:52 | | Apple in a new patent filing reveals that it is conducting research on a 3D remote control system for its Apple TV set-top box that would mimic the functionality of the Nintendo Wii controller and also deliver some features akin to its multi-touch technology.
In the November 2006 filing, published for the first time this week, the Cupertino-based electronics maker notes that the | | By: Save My Data!
| | More light on the Xbox copying Wiimote | | 2008-04-09 22:00:00 | | According to 8BitJoystick.com, Microsoft definitely has a Wiimote-clone in development. The project has the internal Microsoft codename of "Newton" and could be a few months away from prototype. The interesting thing is that Nintendo does not own all of the patents for the Wiimote's technology. A few of them are owned by a company called Gyration and Microsoft could conceivably license the tech for their own use. Nintendo hired Gyration to help them develop the Wii remote and licenses the tech from them.We could definitely see Microsoft trying to do something like this as they continue to chase a broader market. This would also be something that current Xbox owners could buy without having to get a new console. Now, if only they would port Smash Bros. to the 360.Remember, this is all rumor at this time.[Via G4 TV.com]Copycats mofos!XHT With Love! | | By: X-Intelligence Krew | | |
| | Rumor: MS trying to copy Wiimote | | 2008-04-07 17:05:00 | | MTV News has a secret source who sent in the above "sketch" and some info on what they claim is a veritable Wiimote clone, courtesy of your friends and ours at Microsoft. Reportedly, the Xbox (marketing?) team has been hard at work aping Nintendo's waggling wonder, in an attempt to "match the Wii point for point." The project, which the anonymous source calls "a colossal clusterf---," is being handled to some degree by internal developer Rare, who has had difficulty "hitting its deadlines," apparently compromising Microsoft's ambitions to have a product release by the end of the year. The more astute amongst you may recall that X3F broke the news about Rare's upcoming XBLA game The Fast and the Furriest in January, which purportedly features "a wand type input device for gesture recognition."While not a huge surprise, considering the contortions Microsoft has put itself through to appeal to the "casual" audience, we're pretty certain releasing yet another interface for the Xbox 360 isn | | By: X-Intelligence Krew | | |
| | | Fan-created Mario game is all waggle, no Wiimote - SendMeRSS | | 2008-01-14 11:23:52 | | Fan-created Mario game is all waggle, no WiimoteFiled under: Fan stuffOkay, we heart this anonymous Japanese programmer. He created a version of Super Mario Bros. in which players move their hands in front of a webcam in order to push Mario around. It's not very intuitive, and it doesn't look that useful, but it's awesome. Things can just be uselessly cool sometimes, right? Really, this is only barely Mario. The graphics are lifted from Super Mario Bros., and the level design is pretty much 1-1 without any coins or powerups in it, but the weirdo physics, lack of on-screen information, and the obvious, constant bugs lead us to the conclusion that this game was actually made from scratch to imitate Super Mario Bros. That just means that more of this guy's spare time was spent making a near-unplayable webcam game, which makes it even better -- as does the Hatsune Miku-created soundtrack. Of course, having been made from the ground up allows even wackier stuff to happen than the w | | By: Online Games | | |
| | Wiimote Fishing Pole | | 2007-07-05 22:05:00 | | Yeah, I saw this and thought it was wierd. It is a little thing that attaches to your Wiimote, and it simulates a fishing pole for more realism, as the site says. To me it looks like the pole itself does nothing, except act like a fishing pole...For $20 you would think it could come with a game that uses the pole, or even use it with other games. Seems worthless, might as well tape a stick on your controller and save 20 bucks.==>LINK | | By: Stuff Blog | | |

Is there no end to the cool projects that can be done with the Wiimote? I wonder how many people are buying a Wiimote without the console to play around with and make cool hacks like this one?
“Nice experiment using my Nintendo Wiimote as a controller for the OSC frequency of my Moog Little Phatty… (Check out the OSC knob cursor moving on the LP)
It sound like a Theremin ”

| | Debug Visual Studio 2005 Using a Wiimote | | 2007-06-15 05:11:55 | |
Rafael Mizrahi, the QA Lead at Mainsoft sent in this cool video of a Nintendo Wiimote that is used to debug .NET code!
I wonder if the bluetooth Wiimote interface to the computer is being handled using Carl Kenner’s Glovepie or if Rafael created his own from scratch? Either way, Great job!

Visit his site and download a software to give it a try... I've recently connected my Wiimote over bluetooth to PC and it's working great, now let's try this ;) | | By: Cyberspace Nova
