    Flyer Fix…Troy Williamson
    2008-07-31 15:44:07
Nothing is quite as fun as a fantasy football flyer. Not the Philadelphia Flyers. Not the University of Dayton Flyers. Not anything. Why are they so fun? Because they’re so low-risk. But more... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]...

Training Camp Battles: Troy Williamson versus John Broussard
    2008-06-04 05:00:52
VERSUS   Introduction: With minicamp this weekend, Collin and I thought it would be interesting to look at some of the direct competition to watch for as you observe the practices.  Our first matchup comes at the hyper-competitive Wide Receiver position, where two speedsters go head to head for the same roster spot.  When you look at position battles, it's not just a matter of numbers, but rather an examination of role.  Sometimes a battle develops due to the similar roles two players fill are very similar.  For example, Defensive Tackles Derek Landri and Theo Horrocks play the same position, but would not be considered battling over the same role because the former is a faster pass-rushing DT, where the other is a more traditional run-stuffer.  In this case, the Jaguars have a pair of wide receivers both destined to fill the role of speedy deep threat that's designed to stretch defenses and draw coverage.  Their value is measured in bo...

Jacksonville Jaguars acquire Troy Williamson: Good Deal or Bad Deal?
    2008-02-25 23:40:48
Look, he caught that one! In what can only be described as an "eh..." move, the Jacksonville Jaguars preemptively began the 2008 off-season as word leaked about a trade with the Minnesota Vikings.  The Jaguars, for better or for worse, have traded their 6th round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft for Troy Williamson.   Troy is a former first round pick (7th overall) from the University of South Carolina.  Coincidentally, coming from the real USC might be the only thing I like about this trade.  Ok, I'm not going to be that unfair to the guy.  There has to be something of value there. First off, he's fast.  How fast?  He ran a 4.32 forty back in 2005.  That kind of speed would be simply fantastic, if he could prove some sort of consistency in catching the ball. Of course, that's what everyone is going to say about this trade.  That we got a guy who can't catch the ball.  And that's fine, it looks like a fair cri...

Jaguars Set To Acquire WR Troy Williamson
    2008-02-25 20:08:38
According to the Pioneer Press, the Jaguars have agreed in principle to trade a second-day pick for Vikings wide receiver Troy Williamson. Williamson, 24, who was a first-round pick by the Vikings in 2005, has had a case of the butter fingers in his time in the NFL. In three seasons, he has recorded 79 [...]...

Jacksonville Jaguars trade for Troy Williamson:
    2008-02-25 20:06:24
Update [2008-2-25 21:15:58 by River City Rage]: I forgot to let you know that The Daily Norseman also confirms that the Vikings have a trade in place, with more to come. BREAKING:  The Jacksonville Jaguars, according to TwinCities.com and reported by Pro Football Talk say that the Jacksonville Jaguars have come to an agreement in principal to trade a second day draft pick for Wide Receiver Troy Williamson. Troy, as we all know, has a terrible reputation for dropped balls.  I talked with (sadly unnameable) source at the Combine who said the Jaguars were dangerously close to making a "big move" for a young WR. I guess this is the move.  And I'm really not so sure how excited I am about it.  Clearly we'll have more to talk about as the story develops. I'd also say that more moves are yet to come, as my inside source said we'd be big players at WR.  One move does not a big player make. -Chris...

Dolphins Interested in Williamson and Hall?
    2008-02-23 15:34:00
The Herald reported today that the Dolphins have been talking with the agents for WR Troy Williamson and CB DeAngelo Hall about potentially trading for those players. My advice to Parcells: don't go anywhere near Williamson. The big red flag on him coming out of South Carolina was his inexperience at the position. In his 3 years in the NFL has has proven jack squat and hasn't been the deep threat anyone had hoped for. I would offer a 7th for butterfingers, and nothing more.As for Hall, I sincerely doubt the Big Tuna will look his way. DeAngelo is a decent player but is probably the most overrated DB in the NFL aside from Dallas safety Roy Williams. He consistently makes the Pro Bowl on name recognition alone. And he will want a $10 million a year deal after the upcoming season to boot.Trading for him would be an expensive risk because his salary demands might result in him being a one-year rental for the Dolphins. What I would seriously consider would be to trade our #1 pick down to #3 ...

Dolphins interested in Williamson? Vikings interested in Lemon?
    2008-02-22 13:59:02
Talk about swapping some bad players. As originally posted by hotrod43 in this diary, the Vikings are reportedly showing interest in free agent QB Cleo Lemon.  Tim Graham writes that there are "murmurs the Vikings are highly interested" in Lemon.  What do I think?  TAKE HIM!  PLEASE!!! Actually, it really doesn't matter if the Vikings take him or not because all indications are that Bill Parcells, Jeff Ireland, and Tony Sparano are going to let him walk without even giving it a 2nd thought.  In fact, when asked about re-signing Lemon, Parcells said, "Hahahahahahaha!!"  OK, I made that up.  But if you did ask him, I bet that would basically be his response. Speaking of bad players, it's being reported that 8-10 teams are interested in Vikings WR Troy Williamson.  One of them is believed to be...the Dolphins.  Here's what some of this article says: David Canter, the agent for Troy Williamson, said today that eight to 10 teams have expressed in...
