    2008 German F1 GP - Wolf’s Race Review
    2008-07-21 00:34:12
I do not want to say this was the best race of the season but it sure was entertaining. We could see some serious racing with overtaking up and down the grid, we had a safety car following a crash (luckily without any serious injury), we could see a serious strategy blunder and impressive recovery [...]

2008 British F1 GP - Wolf’s Race Review - The Ross Brawn Factor
    2008-07-07 03:04:47
After some Monaco drizzle we had the first proper wet to extreme wet race this year. It has provided us with all that can be expected - lots of spins, pit stop and strategy dilemas and some surprising faces on the podium. It is not easy to review this race without missing something. A lot was [...]

Martin Wolf: the lessons from today's financial crisis
    2008-07-02 12:33:00
"We told you so." The Bank for International Settlements has long warned of the dangers of unrestrained credit growth and asset price inflation. In this year's annual report, the last to be prepared under the direction of William White, its long-serving Canadian economic adviser, it felt free to point out how right it had been. But it did so with restraint: "Rather than seeking to apportion blame," it says, "thoughtful reactions must be the first priority."The report provides just such reactions. But it also describes the mess created by those who ignored its earlier warnings. "The current market turmoil in the world's main financial centres is," it claims, "without precedent in the postwar period. With a significant risk of recession in the US, compounded by sharply rising inflation in many countries, fears are building that the global economy might be at some kind of tipping point. These fears are not groundless."As readers of BIS annual reports would expect, this one gives good answ

Letting the Buffalo Roam/ Hoppy: The Story of Wolf 253
    2008-06-26 18:15:15
Earth Justice reports on one of the casualties of the loss of Endangered Species status for gray wolves in the northern Rockies-- Hoppy, or, officially, Wolf 253, part of the wolf population brought back from the verge of extinction in the Northern Rockies, and one of 1,500 gray wolves that lost federal protections in March when the federal government "delisted" wolves from the Endangered Species Act. And on March 28, he was shot dead. Hoppy wasn't just any old wolf. His distinctive gait, walking on three legs, made him one of the more easily recognized wolves in Yellowstone. Among his pack, too, he was unique: he was taller than Wolf 21, his father and the alpha male of the Druid pack that roamed the open fields in Yellowstone's Lamar Valley. You can read more of his story here.Defenders of Wildlife is reporting on what's happening to bison who wander out of Yellowstone National Park-- more than 1,300 of them have been killed just this year. That's more than a quarter of the park's

    2008 French F1 GP - Wolf’s Race Review
    2008-06-23 00:51:57
We sure have seen better races then 2008 French GP but we still got few servings of racing excitement despite utter Ferrari domination. The only chances for others to mess with Ferrari were either at the race start, rain intervention or something going terribly wrong for one or both Ferrari drivers. At the race start all [...]

Brokered Deposits, Where is the Big Bad Wolf
    2008-06-19 10:44:45
Reuters published an article last week on the “evils” of brokered deposits. And now my gloves are off! Let’s get something straight. Deposits, brokered or otherwise are not the problem. The banks making poor management decisions are the problem. The problem is with the bank’s bad loans and poor investment decisions. It is not the accepting [...]

    2008 French Formula 1 GP - Wolf’s Race Preview
    2008-06-18 23:37:56
The 2007 French GP was to be the last one held at the Magny-Cours track. But when the 2008 F1 calendar was published last summer, the French GP at Magny-Cours somehow made the cut again. So for the second year running we have the last French F1 GP at this rural track although the contract [...]

    2008 Canadian F1 GP - Wolf’s Race Review
    2008-06-09 07:49:41
The race start was little disappointing - all the cars made it and for the first 13 laps the race was rather uneventful. Lewis Hamilton pulled away from Robert Kubica and Kimi Raikkonen. He looked like the man to beat. The only excitement came from Nelson Piquet overtaking every car that got in his [...]

Formula 1 (and me) moves to Canada this weekend for what it will be the only North American F1 race this year. Last time the Montreal race was full of excitement. 2008 Monaco F1 GP - Wolf’s Race Review
    2008-05-26 04:00:30
It has been suggested several times that the surest way how to secure an exciting F1 race is to sprinkle the track with water. Britain's first Jihadi 'Lone Wolf' bomber?
    2008-04-28 00:10:08
Big time terrorism plots are always big news whereas more subtle and interesting trends are often recorded as footnotes. One such footnote occurred over Christmas 2007 in the British city of Birmingham. A 38-year-old man, Hassan Muhammed Sabri Al Tabbakh of Syrian origin was arrested by local police on terrorism charges. He is accused of stockpiling chemicals and information on how to construct a bomb. He appears to have acted alone and this continues to be a conspiracy of one. Further, details may...(read more)

    The Lonely Wolf *Sigh*
    2008-04-23 11:53:33
Ladies and geantlemen!! Yeah! I spelled like that 'cause I wanted to. I've pondered here and there and realized that I'm really beginning to feel the darn loneliness. Well no good complaining about it now 'cause I had it coming. Maybe out of my subconsciousness is why I'm into blogging and surfing the net (What the fcuk! Fcuking cockroach just got on my foot!) more than ever. I've never been bored in surfing the net. I got myself into reading news about lots of things. But hey, I won't be surfing forever, would I? That's what got me thinking. Sure, back in high school I have friends, but I'm not always the one needing company. Getting older just built up the fact that everyone else must have friends to hang out with. In college, I didn't mind going to school alone, eating lunch alone, surfing in the computer lab alone, smoking alone, etc. My craziness just got me closer to my crew. Yeah, you sons of b!tches, you know who the fcuk you are. I had fun with them. It's the thought that I ha

    Episode Five: Wolf Alice
    2008-04-18 23:49:40
Jackson Pollock's "She-Wolf." Upon first reading this short story, from the piles and piles of half-remembered paintings shoved into the filing cabinets of my brain, this image popped into memory. After several minutes of googling "beast" and "abstract" and "painting" and "expressionism," at last, I found it. And, wouldn't you know, it showed itself in some long-forgotten blog entry discussing this exact short story. I was partly annoyed, but mostly amazed, by this coincidence. On a more personal note, I've noticed I have more than a few subscribers already (hooray)--yet, sadly, no comments. Please feel free to stop by and say hello, if you feel so inclined! Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Top 5 Brawlers (Shirow Wolf)
    2008-04-10 09:04:00
Super Smash Bros. Brawl has been out for a month now, and it's been a monster success. Certainly it was the most anticipated Wii game, but I'd say overall the most anticipated game on any Nintendo system in a long time. I like the game a lot, too. It's far from perfect (the controls are the main problem, especially in Subspace Emissary Mode...), but it's a great play, and Wii owners should definitely check it out. I'm not going to review the game because I don't really have anything significant to say, and nothing different from what everyone else has already said. If you have a Wii, at least play the game. That's it. However, I am going to present my 'commando' list of my Top 5 Fighters. This isn't a list of who I am necessarily 'best' with, but they are the ones I use the most, feel the most comfortable with, and those I would want to have with me in a major battle. These are all characters I find easy to use as well, but at the same time, they're still great fighters. In no particul

Two drivers started this race with new gearboxes, 14 drivers had new engines in the backs of their cars. At The Wolf's Mouth
    2008-04-03 10:57:00

In regards to the content of Jan's website, here are some things you'll find on it, you can judge for yourself whether they just illustrate how the "registry has affected Jan's life" or something more sinister:http://www.operationawareness.com/whats_new_18.html...and then there is the KENT STATE UNIVERSITY STUDY which reveals some startling discoveriesWomen would pay a fortune for the skin, sparkling eyes and body of a 10-year-old. Babes of Gaming: Sniper Wolf
    2008-03-17 13:00:00
Most of the members of the FOXHOUND unit are male, so it’s nice to see a female, and a sexy one to boot. She is an expert Kurdish sharpshooter and carries around a PSG-1 sniper rifle. Wolf is so good at sniping she doesn’t even need a spotter, so she works alone. She encounters Solid Snake on Shadow Moses island during the events of Metal Gear Solid. While being held captive in Shadow Moses, Dr. Hal “Otacon” Emmerich, designer of Metal Gear REX, becomes infatuated with Sniper Wolf. It is unknown if she felt the same way towards the geeky weapons designer, but I like to think so.During her second encounter with Solid Snake, Sniper Wolf is defeated. Fatally wounded on the snow field, she begs Snake to “set her free”. Otacon is devastated, but can’t do anything about it. Wolf is given her rifle and then shot to the face by Snake. As she passes away a pack of wolves surround her and howl into the night. It is a very tragic and memorable scene that must be witnessed to be full

Wolf found in Western Massachusetts; assault continues elsewhere
    2008-03-05 10:17:00
Genetic tests have confirmed that the first wolf in more than 160 years was found in Massachusetts in October, the Boston Globe reported March 4. The last confirmed sign of any wolf in New England was in 1992 east of Bangor, Maine. Are wolves on their way back in the Northeast?Wolves had been hunted to regional extinction in Massachusetts by the mid-1800's, at about the same time that coyotes began to increase. Coyotes are often considered to be urban and rural pests; studies in Yellowstone National Park have shown that after wolves were reintroduced there in 1995, the coyote population was reduced by 50%.The nearest wolf population to New England is in Southern Quebec, according to the Maine Wolf Coalition, which promotes wolf restoration in Maine. Although the U.S. Dept. of the Interior had been dragging its feet in implementing a 2003 wolf restoration law, a recent ruling by the U.S. District Court in Vermont has ordered the government to get on with the business of restoratio

Rather than featuring dialogue, each character is voiced by a different musical instrument. The design of Peter is particularly generic, kind

Packers: Wolf regrets taking shot at Holmgren

This was an interesting story....you can check it out below.....here It happened a long, long time ago, but obviously it still bothers Ron Wolf. Back in Super Bowl XXXII, played in January 1998, the Green Bay Packers were the defending champions and looking for two in a row. The NFC had won 13 straight Super Bowls, and the Packers were a double-digit favorite over the Denver Broncos to make it 14. But the blitzing Broncos defense rattled Brett Favre. The aging, but not washed-up John Elway, finally getting some help in the backfield with MVP Terrell Davis, kept it close for Denver. And finally, the Broncos scored with a minute left the game to take the lead -- a touchdown that was "conceded" by Packers coach Mike Holmgren. The Packers couldn't answer. Denver won, 31-24. The Broncos won the next Super Bowl, too. And the Packers haven't been back since. The loss still stung Wolf, a longtime Packers GM who engineered the franchise's renaissance in the 1990s. And never one to mince w

The Wolf is back with the articles and posts from the webs and blogs. Force India launched their VJM01 in grand ceremony in Mumbai. F1 Chronicles feels there were too many actresses and too few fans present. I think that Mr Mallya could have shown a bit more respect to his drivers by learning how to [...]

    A Wolf In Obama's Clothing. . .
    2008-01-08 10:27:05
The American Thinker gives us the first real glimpse into the real Barry Obama. I found it chilling. It may be no accident that this "light weight" is out maneuvering the masters at every angle. The author pretty clearly explains what had confused me so much about Obama. All over I see upper middle class whites (who've seen their incomes explode over the past 25 years) embracing a man who keeps... Hugo Wolf 1860 – 1903
    2008-01-04 15:43:30
Hugo Philipp Jakob Wolf was a very interesting Austrian composer. A true picture of how detrimental it can be for a  composer to get a venereal disease. Yet, due to his genius, he was able to truly give a lot to the world in an incredibly short time.     Having been taught violin and piano by [...]

    A Note from Patrick Wolf
    2007-11-30 09:16:34
Regular readers might have detected a slight fondness for a young musician named Patrick on this blog in the past. Now I’m not a groupie, honest. Nor am I an obsessive. Not really. I’m just someone who loves his music, marvels at his brain, and was happy enough to meet him earlier this year after [...]

The regular visitors to F1Wolf may have realized several changes to the left side bar. I removed the categories and archives sections. These were not used too much by the visitors and were taking too much space. So I got rid of them, at least for now. Some new stuff arrived instead… 1) The Top Commentators From now on [...]

Echoing some of the sentiments expressed in these pages, Naomi Wolf discusses some abridgments of liberty taken by the US government circa 2007. The video is pretty long, but it is worthwhile to check out if you have a block of time or can listen while you’re doing something else on the computer (there [...]

I struggled with whether or not to post this picture all morning. Okami: The Great God...A Wolf?!
    2007-09-05 23:52:30
Title: OkamiDeveloper: Clover StudioPlatform: PlayStation 2Release: 2006I bought my Okami game mainly because I found the cover amusing - a wolf with a flaming stone-like thing (which I later found out was a weapon) on its back. Oh I also bought it because it was set during ancient Japan, though I'm not sure which part exactly.Anyway, Okami is a single-player action-adventure game where the player takes on the role of Amaterasu (a white wolf) who has come back to earth because of the demon, named Orochi, whom Amaterasu defeated before has escaped from its tomb. Amaterasu must find a way to defeat Orochi once again before the demon's curse spreads throughout the land and corrupt everything on its path.As you can see in the picture above, Okami's graphics look like an animated old Japanese painting. All throughout the game, the player can hit a button and the scene freezes into a canvas where he can paint to bring out Amaterasu's powers. The powers of Amaterasu are brush strokes that rep

Crying Wolf: Non-Predictions for the Future
    2007-07-03 22:55:45
Prophecy is a difficult subject for me, not because I think it’s not possible, but simply because there are so many false voices out there that a lot of disinformation and propaganda gets let in through the open doors. I mean, how many times have people set a date for the end of the world in the past? Don’t get me started on that one. On the other hand, I do believe many people will be able to determine without much difficulty some of the likely events that are to come. It doesn’t take a psychic to see there will probably be another really big, terrible “terrorist” attack sometime in the near future. All you have to do is read the news. It’s also pretty clear we are being groomed for world government. Right now, fear is being used to great advantage towards that goal. However, and unfortunately, so is love and what people see as “doing the right thing”. For example, some believe environmental issues are one way to manipulate us into accepting world governm

    A Wolf Story
    2007-06-01 08:14:30
With all her big brothers and sisters off to school, our ranch became a lonely place for our three-year-old daughter, Becky. She longed for playmates. Cattle and horses were too big to cuddle and farm machinery dangerous for a child so small. We promised to buy her a puppy but in the meantime, “Pretend” puppies popped up nearly every day. I had just finished washing the lunch dishes when the screen door slammed and Becky rushed in, cheeks flushed with excitement. “Mama!” she cried. “Come see my new doggy! “I gave him water two times already. He’s so thirsty!” I sighed. Another of Becky’s imaginary dogs. “Please come, Mama.” She tugged at my jeans, her brown eyes pleading, “He’s crying - and he can’t walk!” “Can’t walk?” Now that was a twist. All her previous make-believe dogs could do marvelous things. One balanced a ball on the end of its nose. Another dug a hole that went all t

News Round-up: The Last Days of the Wolf
    2007-05-18 12:07:00
There was a lot of controversy about the appointment of Wolfowitz as the president of the Worldbank. He is seen as a Bush puppet and one of the architects of the Iraq war. The nomination did not get a lot of support from the UN member states, and certainly not from the general public. Personally, I felt ashamed to be a UN staff member when he became one.Wolfowitz recently became involved in a scandal as he personally intervened in the handling of a high-paying promotion for his girlfriend, Shaha Riza. European countries led by France, Germany and the Netherlands, jumped on the opportunity and have said Wolfowitz should step down to salvage the bank's credibility.A Worldbank board panel now found Wolfowitz broke bank rules and represented a conflict of interest.Read the full story here. It seems his last days in the Worldbank are numbered. It was just a matter of time...Flash update: Wolfowitz resigns from the Worldbank. Full story here.Picture courtesy Reuters.
