Endicott Peabody, Wyatt Earp & Faith

LESSONS IN FAITH & FORGIVENESSThere are some fascinating forums online dealing with the Wild West.  I think the best one is moderated by a friend, James Wright.  Earlier today James emailed that there was a heated discussion about one of my books, A Church for Helldorado, Endicott Peabody's 1882 Earp Era Tombstone Diary.  I am including my entire rebuttal, and additional comments.I learned something today.  I don't think we truly know how to forgive until we have experienced Christian forgiveness.  Forgiveness is a very important thing.  In the Lord's Prayer, we are taught, "Forgive us our ......

    Tombstone, Wyatt Earp & America
    2008-07-05 00:14:58
FRIDAY, JULY 4Tombstone is America in microcosm. In order to understand the heart and soul of America you need to understand two things baseball and Tombstone.  More than a mining town, dirty and small minded, Tombstone is a symbol.  It is America's version of Camelot.  Wyatt Earp is our King Arthur.  If the characters and storyline of Tombstone had not existed America would have invented it.  Wyatt Earp, age 79, 1928(Additional photos in this article are copyright SJ Reidhead, 2008.  All were taken today, July 4, 2008 in Tombstone, AZ) The Civil War had ended less than 20 ......

Wyatt Earp Goes to the Opera!
    2008-07-04 00:09:29
WEDNESDAY, JULY 3I am like a little kid bouncing off the wall.  I made an incredible Wyatt Earp discovery today, thanks to Marge & Steve Elliott and their museum here in Tombstone.  Steve had a set of programs that once belonged to Wyatt, c1906 out of LA.  The opera lover in me is just like a little kid at Christmas.  Wyatt Earp loved opera.  He was a big fan of Verdi.  I saw the programs, and the reviews clipped from the papers.  Can you imagine? Wyatt Earp loved Opera. I purchased a folio of some exciting research material.  I ......

Repeating the LIberal Lies About Wyatt Earp
    2008-06-19 14:09:05
WYATT EARP, REPUBLICAN HEROI was under the impression that Stop the ACLU was a reputable conservative site.  Unfortunately today there is a post by someone named Warner Todd Huston, that is the most factually incorrect thing I've seen about Wyatt Earp and Tombstone since I wrote my book TRAVESTY:  Frank Waters Earp Agenda Exposed debunking Frank Waters' (The Earp Brothers of Tombstone) that bastion of liberalness and basically anti-American icon who lied his way into fame, and New Age fame and alleged fortune. Frank Waters hated Wyatt Earp.  He hated Stuart Lake, who basically wrote the ......

John McCain, Ted Williams, Endicott Peabody, and Wyatt Earp
    2008-04-01 19:44:00
HE’S GOT MY VOTEIf I weren’t voting for John McCain, I would after the beginning of this ad, which features Ted Williams as a hero.  Then, when we find out the teacher honored, William B. Ravenel taught at an Episcopalian high school, well, how much more could one ask? (Powerline)  I gather this tells us something about who Big Mac views as heroes.  Nothing wrong with Teddy Roosevelt or Ted Williams, who was a board certified war hero and fighter pilot!  This leads to the old argument, just how great a ball player could Teddy Ballgame have ......

    Wyatt Earp. Lawrence Kasdan.
    2007-09-10 17:27:40
Thirty-nine years old when Wyatt Earp was released, all Kevin Costner needed to do to de-age himself twenty years was smile. During the young Earp days, Costner looks younger than costar Annabeth Gish, not to mention Linden Ashby (playing his younger brother). The extended version of Wyatt Earp clocks in at three and a half hours. It's not available on DVD, which is a shame, since it's the only way to watch the film. Wyatt Earp is a tragedy, spending an hour setting up the character as an affable, hopeful (and a little simple) young man, then destroys him. If he weren't destroyed, of course, he wouldn't be much of a main character but I'd forgotten how affecting his destruction is to watch. The film is unique in its lack of acts--first, second and third--it follows the character from youth and, while it must skip some boring parts, contains little in the way of rising action. For example, there's every indication Joanna Going is going to be as insignificant to the film overall as Té...
