| Still ugly: Toyota gives Yaris the Emperor's New Colors | | 2008-08-10 09:21:00 | | Yaris: Not really cool or good looking for that matter. Factory photography: the cure for uncool. Toyota has released a couple of new colors for the Yaris Liftbacks - Yellow Jolt and Carmine Red Metallic. An ochreous or insect-derived hue doesn't instantly remove the Joe Camel nose or the S version's tacked on bodykit, but there's something sharp about the accessorized penalty box that Toyota's showing off here. The Yaris sedan gets a couple of more subdued colors - Zephyr Blue Metallic and Blue Streak Metallic. Of course, new colors don't make the Yaris any better, but we must grudgingly admit that while it doesn't stir our souls, it's a decent lob over the plate. Though the price can get uncomfortably close to $20,000 (yikes!). Take a look at the gallery below, which also includes shots of the new five-door hatch model in faux sporty S trim. Indeed, the Yaris has never looked better, and likely never will.[Source: Open Road] Tag: Car Buying, Economy, Hatchbacks, Toyota... | | By: Car News | | |
| | | Toyota adds 5-door Yaris to U.S. lineup | | 2008-07-02 17:05:00 | | Small cars are back en vogue thanks to lofty fuel prices. As a result, Toyota is completing is Yaris lineup in the U.S. by finally adding the 5-door liftback to its list of offerings for the 2009 model year. Available in other markets (including Canada) since inception, the 5-door Yaris occupies roughly the same footprint as the 3-door, but is a lot more practical if you're going to be carrying backseat passengers frequently. Its powertrain will mirror the other Yaris offerings, and we're assuming it'll get the optional sport appearance package available on the 3- and 4-doors. Those sport models, by the way, get a new body kit and interior color schemes for MY09. Other '09 changes include the availability of cruise control on the hatch, as well as the addition of standard front side airbags and rear side curtains. Toyota hasn't released pricing or photos of the U.S. spec Yaris 5-door yet. We imagine the former won't stray too far off from the 3-door. In terms of photos, the gallery be... | | By: Car News | | |

| Porta Potti Needed for Yaris | | 2008-03-22 16:03:49 | | Your mum and I consider of traveling to Edmonton, Alberta, a larger city six hours away, to peruse a few baby shops there, but there’s a good chance we won’t be able to make the trip.
As you kick and press your mum’s bladder, she must go, go, go. In fact, thirty minutes can’t go by without taking a pee break. A six hour trip with barely a pit stop in between? Impossible.
Unless, of course, we find a portable toilet that attaches to our Yaris. Can you imagine? If we do find such a handy contraption, we’ll likely leave it up … right on through to your teen years.... | | By: Metta Says Ums - Her Story Begins Here
| | Europe gets Toyota Yaris SR with dockable TomTom nav unit | | 2008-02-22 09:55:14 | | The Euro-spec Toyota Yaris is a well-equipped little car. But things like the nine airbags, chrome exhaust finisher, and remote central double locking are merely gravy for the real show on this new SR model: a fully-integrated portable TomTom navigation system that doubles as a touchscreen interface for the car stereo.
It’s a neat little trick, [...]... | | By: Autospider

Record gas price: Dirty dozen
Gallon approaches $3.23 to set 12th-consecutive record high; widespread increases continue ahead of the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) — Gas prices hit record highs for the 12th straight day Thursday, as drivers prepared to hit the road for the Memorial Day holiday and the start of the summer driving season.
There is no immediate relief in sight, as prices continue to rise in most of the country. Midwest prices continue to soar, resulting in the three most expensive states in the nation being in that region.
The latest reading from AAA Wednesday showed that the nationwide average for a gallon of regular unleaded hit $3.227, up from $3.221 on Wednesday.
The motorist group’s survey of 85,000 gas stations, by far the broadest sampling of gas prices, has been showing a series of record highs starting May 13.
