The Laptop We Are All Waiting For?
2008-02-24 02:22:00
With commuter literacy as well as dependency rapidly disperses throughout our country, we have yet to see a laptop that will meet the requirements of a computer savvy, traveling, working class hero with a degree. The hardware offered in these currently available machines seems to only appeal to a select few newcomers to the tech world. To someone that knows there way around an operating system as well as possessing the ability to put the entirety of a computers hardware to use, I am not very imp...

Solar Laptop Charger Bag by Voltaic Systems
2008-02-24 02:21:00
This 2008’s Consumer Electronics Show was having a Green theme, meaning being eco- friendly. This was really a good thing for the Consumer Electronics Association to do because this earth really needs protecting. One gadget that deserves recognition for greatly fulfilling the CES theme was the Solar Laptop Charger Bag by Voltaic Systems. Naturally, since it is solar, it uses the power of the sun to function. It is highly convenient too because it allows laptop users to mo...

LG's 13.3-inch P300 arrives in Europe, Americans beg a little more
2008-02-24 02:18:00
As expected, South Koreans got their hands around LG's stylish P300 a good while back, and while Americans just knew it was headed stateside in short order, it looks like Europe has received the nod for second dibs. The LED-backlit 13.3-incher reportedly packs an Intel T8300 processor (yeah, that's Penryn), 3GB of DDR2 RAM, an NVIDIA graphics set, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, a 1.3-megapixel camera, dual-layer DVD writer and a couple of USB 2.0 ports to boot. For those already head over heels for t...

LG halts sale of Z1-AE007 laptop, suspects defective battery
2008-02-24 02:18:00
It's not like LG hasn't had issues with its batteries before, and even after confirming that they were unquestionably safe just last week, the firm has suddenly removed its Z1-AE007 from the market after suspecting that faulty batteries may be included. Reportedly, one of said models "caught fire" in Seoul and presumably startled the graduate student who owned it, but a company spokesperson stopped short of proclaiming that a recall was in order. Furthermore, the individual noted that "the matte...

Incline your laptop with a travel stand
2008-02-24 02:02:00
A lot of people like getting their laptops out while they’re traveling on a plane (or a train), but if your drop-down tray is lower than your desk at home or work is, you might find yourself straining you neck and feeling uncomfortable. Inclinepro is a good solution, an aluminum stand that is sturdy and allows you to raise the screen up higher while angling the keyboard to a nice comfortable level for easy typing. However, what makes it especially suitable for traveling purposes is t...

Perfect Laptop
2008-02-24 01:59:00
Business Week's recent cover story on Lenovo's new ThinkPad X300 laptop caught my attention. Can you imagine spending 2 years working on a super thin, super light laptop for release in February 2008 and then have Apple announce the MacBook Air on January 15th? What a commotion must have been had at Lenovo after Jobs' keynote! It turns out that the X300 is actually lighter than the MacBook Air when configured without the DVD drive. It apparently also snugly fits into a mailing envelope! It has 3 U...

Banning Laptop Batteries??
2008-02-24 01:55:00
PCWorld is speculating about a ban on laptop batteries: When or if a laptop battery ever catches fire in-flight, we can expect new rules. I think the most likely future FAA rule is that laptop batteries will not be allowed inside laptops, but carried only in plastic bags and never stored with other batteries. Although this is far less catastrophic than total battery bans on all flights, it would ruin the Wi-Fi laptop nirvana I described. While it doesn't pay to underestimate the stupidity of the ...
