GOM Player for MKV Files
2008-05-10 08:55:00
I was enjoying my weekend watching Bleach anime when suddenly I got XP's "Don't Send" error windows from my VLC.I realized that I've been getting the same error when I play files with .mkv extension. Before this, I got it while watching Code Geass R2 using the same player. Since I already installed the latest VLC player, perhaps the problem is on the player itself. Maybe it does not support mkv file. When I searched on google for mkv player, I found GOM player and it does solve my problem! It even plays as many files extensions as VLC supports and it does not need any separate codecs instalation....

Nokia 6500 Classic Hidden Tips and Tricks
2008-04-24 06:17:00
I have been using my Nokia 6500 Classic for some time. I bought it after registering SingTel CIS (Corporate Individual Scheme) mobile postpaid plan for a S$14 per month - they said the usual price is S$29.96.I found some useful things that are hidden in this phone. I also discovered many other hidden feature common to the Symbian Series 40 used by many new Nokia phones, including Nokia 6500. Some of them are:1. Set VolumeSetting the volume is not as easy as standard Nokia phone, which can be done by pressing the side button since this model does not have a single side button. To set the volume, you need to make a phone call and once the call is connected, you can press navigation button up or down to adjust the voice volum...

StreetDirectory.com Alternatives
2008-04-23 07:32:00
I guess Singapore's StreetDirectory.com's slogan, "You will be lost without it", is true after all. After its map as well as travel guide being shut down, following court sentence on copyright infringement over map generated by government agency - Singapore Land Authority, many people living in Singapore finds problem in getting the alternatives.Actually, I found several websites offering similar services but they have less features compare to Street Directory:1. Google MapYou might notice that Google map is not localized to Singapore as the default location is US. If you want to search a location in the country, you need to append the keyword location with ", Singapore" as shown below:2. Can.com.sgIf you want to go by postal code or more detail search query, you may visit can.com.sg. This...

But unfortunately, Youtube does not offer direct download service for video they are hosting. Even though there are many sites provides way to download youtube video, but all of them are only able to capture the video in form of flash video file (.flv) making it difficult to be played in a portable video player, such as iPod, PSP, etc.But I guess I have found an easy way to make the device to play youtube video:1. | RSS Reduces Online Ads Revenue? |
2008-04-19 12:45:00
I just realized that the Indonesian most well news portal, detikcom, is not generating RSS feeds for its news articles. The feeds are really helpful for me as I am using RSS feeds reader, netvibes, to keep me updated many websites. The only reason I can think of, by having RSS feeds, the number of readers going directly to the website will decrease significantly. That's very-very big issue for the sites generating main revenue from online advertisement. However, I notice that one of detikcom divisions delivering updates on technology issues, detikinet, is not doing the same way.Hmm.. Since I really needs the feeds so badly, I guess there's a need to search for a workaround here :PWait a second...voila!I got Johan over here providing more than what I need...

VLC with Unicode Subtitle
2008-04-19 08:31:00
I've been thinking for an idea to written here and finally just got one after struggling with my VLC.I guess you're already familiar with the player, right? most handy media player without need of any codecs. I was playing an Jdorama SP (Special episode of a particular Japanese drama series) with softsub subtitle, separate srt file, but wondering why the player displays array of squares instead of Japanese characters as written in the sub file.Somehow I found the fix for it. Perhaps you already noticed the default VLC subtitle font is Arial. You may not know that this font does not support Unicode character such as Japanese, Chinese, Korean characters. I change the default font to Arial Unicode, which is the extended version of Arial, the characters are t...
