Vickie Freed Is New Sr. VP-Sales at Royal Caribbean International
2008-01-23 07:57:33
While it comes as no surprise to me that she was going to move somewhere, it was a monumental announcement that it would be Royal Caribbean. Royal Caribbean International named former Carnival Cruise Lines cruise industry veteran Vicki Freed as the company’s senior vice president of Sales. Main competitors for many years, this will be a big shakeup in the cruise industry in the battle between the big two.
Freed joins the company after 29 years with Carnival Cruise Lines, where she spent the last 15 years as senior vice president of Sales and Marketing. Prior to that, Freed served in a variety of sales management positions within the cruise line. From 1998 to 2000, Freed also served as the first, and only, female chairman of the Cruise Line International Association, the marketing and travel agent training arm of the North American cruise industry. ...

2008-01-20 19:40:49
Carnival Cruise Lines wasn’t standing on its laurels as the world’s largest cruise operator in 2007 alone as it made history by winning a record number of awards during the past year, especially in the final weeks of 2007 with several additional accolades from a variety of esteemed organizations. The beauty of the family suite is that the adults get to spend time in a luxurious suite, with beautifully appointed sitting area, master bedroom and bath, while the kids get their own separate room within a room, complete with bath and closet and room for three. | Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) Inaugural Day 2 |
2007-12-15 11:39:12
Day two of the Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) Gem inaugural began with a fabulous breakfast in the Garden Cafe. I love omelettes, and theirs was excellent. Then it was off to tour the ship. Starting at deck 13, I found the Spinnaker Lounge. This turned out to be a really all inclusive, do anything venue. Flat screen TVs everywhere, bar, shuffleboard, darts, pool, air hockey, and dance floor, plus a fabulous panarama view out the front of the ship. The night before, one of NCL’s biggest travel partners held a nice cocktail private party in here. Plenty of room for any large group function. It was a great chance to me to see many old friends and co-workers in the cruise industry....

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) Gem Inaugural Was a Blast
2007-12-14 07:38:04
When Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) throws a party, they allow nothing to get in the way. For only the second time in my 17 years in the cruise industry, I boarded a ship in a snowstorm. The two day Boston inaugural of the Norwegian Gem was smack in the middle of a blizzard that dropped 7 inches of snow on Boston in one afternoon. Once at the pier though, the cruise line went immediately into their standard outstanding shore side operation, welcoming everyone, thanking them for coming, and making sure it was as painless as possible to get onboard. Once inside, and away from all the elements, the magic was in the air, and one of the most beautiful ships I’ve seen was before me....

If you’ve cruised before, or are in the process of researching your initial venture at sea, chances are you’ve already decided cruising may be a better vacation value than a land based visit to a city, or number of cities, and staying in a hotel. Today, a euro will cost you about $1.44 in U.S. dollars, thus diminishing your purchasing power on a land based European vacation by about 30%. What does that mean to you? When you consider that all vacations are essentially made up of four components, it quickly becomes ...
