Sekinchan 9 Emperor Gods Temple, Paddy Field and Fishing Village
2011-02-17 05:18:00
On the New Year Eve of 2010, my wife and I planned for a roadtrip to Sekinchan bringing along my almost 4 years old son, it’s about 1 ½ hour drive (70km) from my home in Petaling Jaya. Main objective was to visit the famous rice producing area, fishing village and savor the fresh cheap seafood. Our first stop was to pay visit the Nine Emperor Gods Temple. It’s located on the right hand side of the main road where there was a small road leading to the paddy field. If I’m not mistaken, it’s either one of the road name called Jalan Parit or Jalan Tali Air. From there, we drove almost one kilometer passing by the paddy fields and it’s immediately evident that we have chosen the wrong time to visit as most of the paddy fields have been harvested, no more luscious green scenery. From f...

Singapore Universal Studio
2011-02-15 04:40:00
My main objective for this Singapore trip was to visit Universal Studio together with my wife and my almost 4 years old son, since children before 4 years old has free admission. This allowed me to save SGD48 for other purposes like souvenirs. To avoid any disappointment, I had purchased the ticket online months earlier as it was a peak season in December which was SGP66 per person on weekdays. Since Singapore has the most efficient public transport, we decided to take the MRT from Little India to Harbour Front Station via the North-East Line. Travel time was less than 30 minutes, sweet!!! From the station we transferred to a public bus RWS8 outside of Vivo City bus stop to Universal Studio for only SGD2 per person roundtrip. We reached at the Universal Studio entrance almost 10am and the ...

Thean Hou Temple During Chinese New Year
2010-02-25 18:48:00
Taking the opportunities during Chinese New Year, my wife and I decided to step our feet at Thean Hou Temple at Robson Height, Kuala Lumpur together with my son. The weather that day was so freaking hot, easily 35 degree Celsius at 5pm. To my surprise, there were many cars heading to his temple and it was quite pack. There’s a lot of parking space but was limited and I have to pay RM3 as parking fee where the money will be donated to the temple as charity. The last time I came here was almost 6 years back during my marriage registration services in 2004. The temple was completed in 1987 and opened to public in 1989.As we walked to the main entrance, we were greeted by the status of Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. Here one can kneel on the specially made ground stone and receive a blessin...

Italy (Day 5) – Rome
2009-11-28 02:38:00
From Vatican City, we headed to Rome which we passed by Piazza Venezia. Near Piazza Venezia, there’s the huge monument called National Monument of Victor Emmanuel II, to honour the first king in Italy. The bus did not stop for us to have a photo shot here, such a sad moment. After 10 minutes of bus ride, we reached the famous tourist spot in Rome, the Colosseum, an open-air venue mainly for spectator sports and gladiator games. Though the structure has fallen into ruins by an earthquake in 847, it is an imposing and beautiful sight in Rome today. Surprisingly, this amphitheater is capable to cater 50,000 spectators. The exterior of the Colosseum, showing the partially intact outer wall (left) and the mostly intact inner wall (right)Inside view of Colosseum from outside the fence.Outside t...

Italy (Day 5) – Vatican City
2009-10-08 10:43:00
After having our breakfast at the hotel, my wife and I got into the bus to Vatican City. A territory enclosed by stone walled or buildings within the city of Rome. It’s the smallest country and population in the world. How ironical. At least, something to put into my travel profile. The city is ruled by the bishop of Rome; guess who…it’s the Pope who is the head of state and head of government of this city. On our way to Saint Peter’s Square, I saw this impressive round structure was once a castle called Castle San Angelo. Today, it's a museum and a place to explore.View of Saint Peter’s Basilica from the nearby street, unfortunately the weather that day was not so good, it’s was drizzling. So we literally have to put the umbrella aside while asking someone to snap a photo of u...

Italy (Day 4) – Florence & Pisa
2009-10-03 10:04:00
Our journey to Florence begins right after breakfast at Prato. It’s just another day to visit the churches, squares and some other attractions. On reaching Florence and the bus parked at the parking lot, my wife and I took a short walk to Basilica of Santa Croce. What so interesting in Basilica of Santa Croce? According to the tour guide, it’s the burial place of Michelangelo and Galileo; and also the largest Franciscan church in the world.Statue just outside the Basilica, inscripted A Dante Alighieri L’Italia on the base. He was a poet of the Middle Ages. This stature is placed high on a base surrounded by lions, and he is clutching his robes around his body and has an eagle at his feet.Opposite the Basilica, there were 4 stories buildings and shops selling leather goods and souveni...

Half Day Trip to Bukit Tinggi
2009-09-29 10:43:00
Since it’s a long weekend during the Hari Raya celebration, I planned for a short day trip to Colmar Tropicale located in Bukit Tinggi with my family. It’s about 45 minutes drive from Kuala Lumpur, heading toward the Karak Highway and lies around 2500 feet above sea level. Colmar Tropicale is French themed resort based on a replica of a Colmar village in French dated back to 16th century. We paid RM10 for each adult as entrance fee at the drive-in booth and it’s free for my 2++ years old son. We managed to find a parking space on the 2-3 storeys castle building, since the parking was limited that day. Some even parked along the roadside and have to walk around few hundreds metres. You need to have your transport as there’s no public transport to here unlike Genting Highland or Came...

Italy (Day 3) - Venice
2009-09-26 09:34:00
After checking out the Crowne Plaza Venice East hotel, my wife and I boarded the bus for a short ride to Tronchetto Pier, taking a private motorboat to San Marco in Venice. While waiting for our motorboat to depart, we had a quick stroll at those souvenirs stalls looking anything that was suitable to buy later since we had limited time on a guided tour. This was one of the stalls selling printed apron. Yeah, I know the length of that ‘object’ looked like mine, no need to tell the whole world, ROFL.My wife would regret if she did not snap a photo with these two gorgeous motorboat drivers. So which one looked better? Some of the shots taken from the motorboatAfter 20 minutes ride, we finally reached Venice, the City of Water. Behind was the motorboat we took.As we walked toward the St Mark...

Italy (Day 2) - Milan
2009-09-11 08:24:00
After a night stay at Star Hotel Business Palace, we checked out the hotel and took a quick shot at the reception where the room key were kept in a neatly manner, really impressed me. Probably it’s common in Italy which I never seen before in those countries I have visited. I really need to get my head out of the cave, haha.Once we boarded the bus, we hit to our first destination, Gothic Duomo which is a cathedral church of Milan. It took almost 500 years to complete and the 4th largest church in the world. The side view of the cathedralCheckout the details of windows from the exterior. Sigh the two unknown tourists on the lower left spoilt the scenery. The interior of the cathedral includes huge number of monuments and artworks; and also huge pillars. My friend told me, we are not allowed...

Doha - Half-Day City Tour
2009-09-03 10:06:00
During my tour to Italy with my wife and her colleagues, we transited at Doha (capital and largest city of Qatar) while waiting for the next flight. Our tour guide engaged a local city tour of Doha. Doha does offer tour packages that allow tourists to experience Doha’s sight-seeing while waiting for the next flight during transit. The moment I came out from the airport, I could see many luxurious cars on this oil-rich country. Since it was still early (7am++), there were not many cars around even in the city; I guess those rich locals don’t wake up so early. After had our breakfast at the Kebab King restaurant, we headed to the camel market at Abu Hamour. The market area can accommodate hundreds of camels of different breeds that are offered for sale. There were shelters and the people th...
