The City">Lost City Museum was built by the national Park Service to exhibit artifacts that were being excavated from the Pueblo Grande de Nevada. These Anasazi Indian sites were being threatened by the waters of Lake Mead as it backed up behind the newly built Hoover Dam. Ward Charcoal Ovens State Historic Park is located south of Ely, Nevada. The main feature of the park is the six domed-shaped historic charcoal ovens. Plans call for rebuilding the track all the way to Carson City Nevada. Contruction has been completed on the first segment over the Overman Pit. Next section will be Overman Pit to Highway 50 with engineering work in progress. Final section will be Highway 50 to Deer Run. When complete the railroad will have a maximum capacity of 140,000 rides per year. Taking a ride on the V&T and visiting historic Virginia City, Carson City and Dayton will add to and produce many thousands of additional overnight stays in the Northern Nevada area.
