Firstly, cannot say enough good things about the Evergreen Resort. The rooms (I stayed in a Superior Villa) are clean, comfortable and well maintained. It is a great choice for the budget traveler (excellent value for money). Most of the staff were very helpful, courteous and spoke a little English. The resort itself is well located in the heart of Chaweng. It was less than a 1-minute walk from my room to the shops, restaurants, pubs and nightlife. The Koh Samui District Office has set aside Dec. 1 as a Clean-up Day for the whole island, days after it reeled from weeks-long continual rains that flooded large parts of the island.Koh Samui District Chief Adisorn Kamnerdsiri said the clean-up activity will also serve as preparation of the island to welcome tourists during the coming Christmas and New Year celebrations. Koh Samui has been settled for about 1500 years. The first arrivals here were fishermen. The island is to be found on 500 years old maps from Chinese Ming dynasty.
