U.S. Travelers’ Registration
2008-05-13 12:44:16
While going through the Canadian Tourism Commission site I came across an interesting item that pertains to U.S. travelers. The American going abroad, or to Canada or Mexico, can register before going on a trip. This travel registration is a free service provided by the American government to U.S. citizens who are “traveling to, or [...]...

Here’s a great site for those of you who want to try hostels. With the average price of an air ticket going up 20% staying in a posh place for a few hours a night is not on the radar for a lot of people. Hosteling is not just for the young backpacker anymore although [...]...

The Shubenacadie Canal
2008-05-02 10:39:31
Around 200 years ago ships traveling into the Bay of Fundy around Cape Sable were under constant danger from changing tides and weather. Many merchants, military men and politicians marveled at how the natives went from Halifax harbour to the Bay of Funday by canoe and began studying the cource.
For centuries, the Shubenacadie water path, [...]...

Yarmouth Backpackers Accommodation
2008-04-30 11:30:20
The dream of the early 1970’s was to backpack across the country and work your way over to Europe on a “tramp steamer.” Well, Louis Lamour and Ernest Hemingway did not speak highly of working on a freight boat although I knew a couple of my peers who said it wasn’t that bad.
In addition, staying [...]...

Jet Fuel Price Dumps on Baggage
2008-04-26 08:00:04
It was bound to happen. First there was the bag of Goldfish instead of a lunch and now Air Canada has levied a $25 surcharge on each extra suitcase. But the meteoric rise of oil has to leak out somewhere and baggage is just the start.
Massive quarterly losses for U.S. airlines have led to increases [...]...

I don’t think I’ve ever rented a vehicle where it wasn’t kept in a dark parkade.

Never checked the “Condition Sheet.”
Never took digital photos [...]...

This is a touchy subject around here but it affects a segment of Canada’s tourism industry.
