| Google may host games on YouTube |

A recent patent application was brought to the public's attention on Bnet. The patent lends people to believe that Google may begin using YouTube to host some sort of online games
. Google's patent, Web-Based System for Generation of Interactive Games Based on Digital Videos, was filed back in February, but was just published in December. The patent brings about the idea of interactive video clips that can contain link objects, which can be used to jump to specific parts of the video. This can sort of be understood like a DVD menu, where clicking on a certain choice will jump you to a certain scene of the movie.

| Follow Up: HP Data Vault long term testing |

As part of the extended review process of the Data Vault, the unit was passed along to a small law firm. Due to a conflict of interest with the Law firm representing a client which competes directly with the Data Vault product line, they have asked that they not be mentioned directly by name. The reasoning? They loved the product so much that a public endorsement would be a strike against their client.
The following is written in first person by the law firm and does not represent my thoughts or views; I have reconstructed their words into a more review friendly format.

| Confirmed: VoIP capabilities coming to Google Voice |

After Google's acquisition of Gizmo5 back in November, people could not help but wonder if and when it would be fully integrated with Google Voice. Ever since the announcement, speculation has flooded the Internet. Rumors about Google's upcoming phone being VoIP only began circulating, and excitement has continued to build.
Today, those rumors are all beginning to come together. In a post on eWeek, Google executive, Bradley Horowitz, has openly admitted that Google plans to implement VoIP into their Google Voice service sometime in 2010. This will allow users to make phone calls via any data connection, regardless of a voice plan.
"What we're trying to do with telephony is give people a seamless experience that frees up their telephony communication from the silos where it's lived for the last decade. Voicemail, my contacts, all of those things have been segregated from the rest of my Web experience. We have big plans to do a better job.

| Possible video of Half-Life 2 played with Natal |

Gizmodo has posted a leaked video of someone playing Half-Life 2 using Microsoft's Project Natal.
It's not yet clear whether the video is authentic but seeing it in action, and actually working, is definitely a nice step forward if genuine, one can't help but notice the strange hand motions that are being made to make the game playable. The hand motions also don't seem to work too well in some instances. You'll see, a little over halfway through the video, the guy has issues interacting with an object.
Microsoft is, without a doubt, doing a lot of internal testing with different games like this, but at some point they are going to have to decide if Natal is practical enough for mainstream gaming. First Person Shooters require a precise level of control with minimal lag. Natal's potential for accuracy and ease of use is something to get excited about, but the lag factor and problems differentiating hand motions may pose an issue for hardcore gamers who can't afford mistakes.
